The Rivermark Community Fund, established in 2016, is an endowment held through the Oregon Community Foundation. Its mission is to support nonprofit partners working to make housing more sustainable, affordable, fair, and equitable across Oregon and Southwest Washington.

The Fund is fueled by Rivermark staff and member donations, as well as proceeds from our annual Charity Golf Tournament. Together, we’re helping to create lasting change—ensuring that more families in our region have access to safe, stable, and affordable homes.

Every donation helps expand the impact of the Fund and brings us one step closer to a more equitable future.

2024 Grant Recipient: ReFIT Portland

In 2024, the Rivermark Community Fund awarded the grant to ReFIT Portland (Remodeling for Independence Together), a nonprofit organization that provides no-cost home modifications to individuals and families facing physical and financial challenges across the greater Portland area.

ReFIT’s work focuses on making homes safer and more accessible—empowering people to continue living independently and with dignity. Their modifications, including wheelchair ramps, grab bars, widened doorways, and ADA-compliant fixtures, help remove barriers that can make everyday life difficult for those living with illness, injury, disability, or the effects of aging.

By creating safer, more accessible living environments, ReFIT is helping to build the kind of inclusive and supportive communities we believe in. Their work aligns closely with Rivermark’s purpose: to transform lives and communities together—and we’re proud to support their continued efforts to make independent living a reality for more individuals across our region.

Recent Grant Recipients

2022 & 2023 Grant Recipient: Community Roots Collaborative

Over two consecutive years, the Rivermark Community Fund awarded a combined $45,000 to Community Roots Collaborative (C-Roots)—a nonprofit focused on creating affordable housing solutions with wraparound support services for individuals experiencing homelessness.

The 2022 grant of $20,000 supported the development of permanent, cottage-style tiny homes in Clark County and helped C-Roots build the reserves needed to hire their first full-time Executive Director. In 2023, an additional $25,000 was awarded to support the construction of the kitchen and communal area in their new O-Street tiny home complex, further aligning with the Fund’s mission to support sustainable, affordable housing in the region.

2021 Grant Recipient: Oregon Energy Fund

In 2021, the Rivermark Community Fund awarded a grant to the Oregon Energy Fund (OEF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting household stability by providing energy bill assistance to low-income Oregonians.

Since 1989, OEF has helped nearly 300,000 individuals avoid utility shutoffs during times of crisis—ensuring families don’t have to choose between electricity and other basic needs like food, rent, or medicine. This grant supported OEF’s mission to prevent homelessness, illness, and hunger by helping households stay safe, warm, and healthy.

2020 Grant Recipient: Rebuilding Together

In 2020, the Rivermark Community Fund awarded a $20,000 grant to Rebuilding Together, a nonprofit organization that provides critical home repairs at no cost to low-income homeowners. The grant was split evenly between the Washington County and Portland chapters, each receiving $10,000 in support of their local work.

Rebuilding Together focuses on serving older adults, individuals with disabilities, families with children, and veterans, helping them remain safely in their homes. This support came at a time when rising housing costs were putting additional strain on many local families. “We are so grateful for the support of Rivermark,” said Danielle Schira, Executive Director of Rebuilding Together Washington County.

2019 Grant Recipient: JOIN PDX

In 2019, the Rivermark Community Fund awarded $20,000 to JOIN PDX, a nonprofit organization that helps individuals and families experiencing homelessness transition into permanent housing in the Portland area.

JOIN’s approach combines long-term housing solutions with immediate, compassionate outreach. Over 83% of the households they assist remain housed for at least twelve months. In addition to housing support, JOIN deploys street outreach teams to provide critical supplies—especially during the harsh winter months. Rivermark has also partnered with JOIN in the past to collect and distribute warm clothing and survival items to those in need.
